What Wyoming requires before you ship
We did not find a Wyoming rule beyond federal law that spells out how a distributor must verify its customers. Federal rules still require it. We found no Wyoming rule that tells a wholesale distributor to check a customer's license before selling. The wholesale chapter covers licensing, accreditation, storage, security and policies. For trading partner checks, it points to the federal DSCSA rules.

Records to keep
Wholesale distributors must exchange transaction history, information and statements as federal law requires. Records of how outdated drugs were disposed of must be kept for two years. We did not find a general transaction record retention period in the chapter.

Licenses a distributor needs in Wyoming
Prescription drug wholesale distributor
Every manufacturer, repackager, third-party logistics provider and wholesale distributor of human prescription drugs that provides services in Wyoming, wherever it is located, must hold a Board license and renew it every year. Each location needs its own license. Wholesale distributors must also hold NABP accreditation (formerly VAWD, now Drug Distributor Accreditation) or a Board-recognized alternative, and post $100,000 in security.

Medical device and DME distributors
Wyoming licenses medical oxygen distributors under the same chapter, because it treats medical oxygen as a prescription drug. We did not find a separate Wyoming license for medical device or DME distributors.

Controlled substances
The Board says every business that distributes controlled substances in Wyoming needs a Wyoming Controlled Substance Registration. Business registrations expire each year on June 30.

Where to look up a Wyoming license

- Physicians and other practitioners: Wyoming Board of Medicine
- NPI: NPPES NPI Registry
- DEA registrations: DEA Diversion Control Division
Federal rules that apply in every state
- A prescription device "is to be sold only to or on the prescription or other order of such practitioner," or to a business lawfully distributing it (21 CFR 801.109).
- A prescription drug wholesale distributor's trading partners "may be only authorized trading partners," which for a pharmacy means one licensed under state law (21 U.S.C. 360eee-1(c)(3)).
How WorkdID handles Wyoming accounts
WorkdID by Workd checks every Wyoming customer you sell to against the state's pharmacy and medical boards, the NPI registry, and the DEA, every day. It flags an expiration or a board action within a day of posting, and in Workd order entry it can hold the order until your compliance team clears the account. Every check is saved with the date and the board record, so your Wyoming file is ready when someone asks for it.
