Customer license requirements, state by state

What each state asks of a distributor before it ships prescription drugs, devices, or medical supplies to a customer. Every rule links to its source.

Short answer

In every state, federal law limits prescription drug sales to licensed, authorized trading partners and limits prescription devices to licensed practitioners and lawful distributors. Some states go further and spell out that the distributor must verify the buyer's license, keep a copy on file, or hold a separate device or DME distributor license. Pick a state below for its rule, its citation, and where to look up a license there.
